# overlane connector chat-user

{/* Generated by apps/docs/scripts/generate.mjs (CLI pages from the command registry in packages/cli). Do not edit; run `pnpm --filter @overlane/docs gen`. */}

Records which team member a chat service user is. An answer in the chat counts only from a mapped member who may write, is not the one who asked, and answers while the approval is pending. This is in the policy autonomy class.

## Usage

```sh
overlane connector chat-user provider [--service URL] [--team TENANT_ID] --external-user ID --user USER_ID [--dry-run]
```

## Arguments

| Argument | Required | Description |
| --- | --- | --- |
| `provider` | yes | The connector, such as slack or linear (see `overlane connector list`) |

## Flags

| Flag | Type | Required | Default | Description |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| `--service` | string | no |  | The service address (default: OVERLANE_SERVICE_URL, then the project's binding, then the hosted service) |
| `--team` | string | no | | The team (tenant) to act on (default: the one your token belongs to) |
| `--external-user` | string | yes | | The user's ID in the chat service (Teams: their Microsoft Entra object ID) |
| `--user` | string | yes |  | The team member's user ID (see `overlane team list`) |
| `--dry-run` | boolean | no | | Print the requests and file changes this command would make, then stop. Needs no credentials. |

## Examples

```sh
overlane connector chat-user slack --external-user U01PERSON --user u-abc123
overlane connector chat-user teams --external-user 00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000000 --user u-abc123
```

## Behavior

- Effect: `write` (changes local or hosted state).
- Needs credentials: yes. Uses the network: yes.
- Supports `--dry-run`: yes. Accepts `--force`: no.
- Machine-readable description: `overlane schema connector chat-user`.

## Result

With `--json` (the default when stdout is not a terminal) the command prints this JSON Schema's shape on stdout.
