# overlane docs add

Reads Markdown or text files, then chunks and stores them under a library name and version in the team's private index. Private docs are never part of the shared index and never appear in another team's results. Files that contain what looks like a credential are refused.

## Usage

overlane docs add library [--service URL] [--team TENANT_ID] [--ecosystem npm|pypi|cargo|go] --version VERSION --file PATH [--dry-run]
```

## Arguments

| `library` | yes | The name to file the docs under |

## Flags

## Behavior

- Effect: `write` (changes local or hosted state).
- Needs credentials: yes. Uses the network: yes.
- Supports `--dry-run`: yes. Accepts `--force`: no.
- Machine-readable description: `overlane schema docs add`.

## Result

With `--json` (the default when stdout is not a terminal) the command prints this JSON Schema's shape on stdout.
