Seats and proration

How seats work on Team and Business, the 10-seat Business minimum, pooled allowances, and how a mid-cycle change is charged.

Everyone in a workspace holds a seat. Team and Business are priced per seat; Pro is one person and Free is up to three.

Rules

  • Business needs at least 10 seats, at checkout and on every seat change. Nine is refused with the minimum named.
  • Pro is one person. A workspace with more members than a plan holds is not sold that plan, so a purchase never starts out read-only.
  • Seats cannot drop below the people who hold one. Remove members first.
  • Team pools its allowances: 200 reviews and 1,500 CI minutes per seat, shared across the workspace.

How a change is charged

A seat change in the middle of a period prorates by the second: you pay for the new seats only for the rest of the period, and are credited for removed seats the same way. The amount is rounded once, to the cent, half away from zero.

For example, a Team workspace on monthly billing with five seats goes to eight ten days into a 31-day period. Three seats at $20 for the remaining 21 days is 3 x 2,000 x 21 / 31 = 4,064.5 cents, charged as $40.65 on the next invoice. Going back to five at the same moment credits the same $40.65.

A person who joins past the purchased seats raises the seats once. The organization event that reports them carries its own identifier, so a replayed event cannot raise the seats or charge a second time.
